The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 15th February1916

15th February 1916 –

1st BattalionA1.
Very quiet – Lot of patrolling – 1 killed.
2nd Battalion – Very quiet day. Our snipers hit one of the enemy who looked over the parapet. Our snipers have quite gained the upper hand over those of the enemy. An enemy wiring party was dispersed by our Machine Gun fire during the night.
Officers 32.    Other Ranks 849.
Lt Col Smith to England (not struck off strength).
Reinforcements:- Capt T.P. Brocklehurst.
2/Lt L.S. Ford.
2/4th Battalion EL AZAB, FAYOUN.
The Battalion left WARDAN, (with the Brigade) today & trained to EL AZAB where it arrived about 21.00 & bivouacked for the night.
1/5th Battalion - The Battn, was ordered with other units in the Garrison to start making a ditch round the fort wall, & for this purpose to furnish working parties as possible.
1/6th BattalionBETHUNE.
Battalion moved into billets in BETHUNE.
7th Battalion – In Billets nothing to record.
8th Battalion – In the evening, the Bn, relieved the 12th R. Fusiliers, 17th Bde, in the right section Right Sector HOOGE Trenches (SANCTUARY WOOD). The relief was complete at 11pm.
