The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 14th February1916

14th February 1916  –

1st Battalion – Very quiet – orders to capture a prisoner – Raid proposed – 1 killed.
2nd Battalion – Quiet day. Usual enemy trench Mortaring, to which our Mortars replied. A mine was exploded by us in the Sector on our left at 5.30pm. trenches in bad state. Pumping out water & clearing away mud the chief work done.
Officers 30.    Other Ranks 849.
1/5th Battalion – “C” Coy proceeded to occupy the KEEPS in the GRENAY (VERMELLES & NOYELLES BRANCHES) LINE also the KEEPS in the SAILLY LABOURSE LINE. The remainder of the battalion remained in billets & continued training.
7th Battalion – In Billets nothing to record.
