The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 4th November 1915

4th November 1915 – 

1st Battalion – Ordinary Routine
2nd Battalion – Officers 24.    Other Ranks 809.
To Hospital 1.
From Hospital 1.
2/4th Battalion GALLIPPOLI.
1/5th Battalion - Orders were received that details & baggage to be left behind were to be attached to 1/4th Queen's LUCKNOW, but no action to be taken until receipt of orders to move. Arrangements for depot were therefore apparently to be cancelled, to this the C.O. objected & protested. By this evening practically all stores had been received & issued except tents, servants clothing, machine gun tripods, telephones, binoculars. Necessaries had also not arrived.
1/6th Battalion – Coys carried out a practice assault with bombers etc, in trenches dug for purpose on the VERMELLES - SAILLY LA BOURSE Rd.
7th Battalion – Quiet day, nothing to record.
8th Battalion TRENCHES I 32 b 6 3 (HDQRS).

Returned to trenches 24 25 26 again to take over from 9th E.Surrey regt. Relief complete by 9.30pm. Battalion had tea in field ¾ mile W, of DICKEBUSCH.
