5th November 1915 –
1st Battalion – 8 Officers and 400 men proceeded to CAMBRIN for fatigue work at 8am in lorries supplied by 2nd Divn.

The Battalion relieved the 1st South Staffs, in
the trenches at GIVENCHY (B 3 sect). HdQrs WINDY CORNER.

Battalion – GALLIPPOLI.
1/5th
Battalion – 4pm Following telegram was received from H.Q. Allahabad
"Chief of the General Staff wires that the mobilisation of the first fifth
Queen's is only a precautionary measure and unit should be informed
accordingly". What exactly is meant by this is not known nor how it affects
the general mobilisation regulations. It is assumed however that orders to move
will be proceeded by some considerable notice as it would appear to signify
that as little change from peace routine as possible is to be made accordingly
on receipt final handing over to Capt, Master was stopped, musketry which had
been being carried on for those who had not fired at all was resumed in
ordinary course & ordinary training continued.
7am The annual signalling tests were held.
1/6th Battalion
– Remained in billets – Coys carried out two hours parade, route march &
drill.
7th
Battalion – At 5am enemy fired mine at F3 a 50 destroying one of our
listening posts & killing three occupants. Some damage done to our shafts
& 6 miners killed. No shell fire followed. Orders received that Bn, would
be relieved by 8 East Surrey R on 6/7th.
