October 1915 –
1st Battalion – The Battn, paraded at 2pm to march to billets at GONNEHEM but this was cancelled while we were on the march owing to the 28th Divn, being there. The Battn, went into billets in VENDIN instead.
2nd
Battalion – Officers 25.
Other Ranks 729.
To Hospital 3.
1/6th
Battalion – Remained in billets. Battn, was inspected by G.O.C. 12th
Division (Major Gen. Scott) at 9.45am. Bombing and Machine Gun classes were
commenced.
2/4th
Battalion – This Battalion and 1/4th Royal Sussex Regt. Were amalgamated.
Major Beale of 1/4th R. Sussex Regt. Commanded the linked Battalions.
During this period the Battalion was employed digging trenches on
and around LALA BABA and garrisoning the trenches by night.
7th
Battalion – In Billets, nothing to record.
8th
Battalion – The battalion remained in Camp G. at RENINGHELST (map HAZEBROUCK
5A) busily engaged in training and reforming, especially with respect to the
Grenade Coy.
