The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 29th July 1915

29th July 1915 – 

1st Battalion – Owing to withdrawal of GLASGOW Hdrs, from support points at CUINCHY and CAMBRIN, C Coy, and D Coy, remain in these places. Relief of remainder of Battn, by Oxfords completed by 5pm. The Battn, Hd, Qrs were shelled during the relief.
Casualties 1 man Killed & 7 wounded.
The Battn went into billets at ANNEQUIN.
2nd Battalion – Officers 32.    Other Ranks 961.
From Hospital 2.
To Hospital 4.
2/Lieut W. Battiscombe to the 1st Bn.
A working party consisting of 8 Officers & 287 N.C.O’s & men improved the front communication trenches during the night.
1/6th BattalionLE BIZET.
Quiet day, found working parties of 650 men at Subsidiary line of trenches – by night.
2/4th Battalion ALEXANDRIA.
7th Battalion BERTANGLES.

Battalion arrived at BERTANGLES & was billeted in the village with Hd Qrs 55 Infantry Brigade, 7th Buffs & 8th East Surrey Regt.
