The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 28th July 1915

28th July 1915 – 

1st Battalion – Enemy shelled left front Coy, at Brickstacks.
Casualties Nil,
2 Lieut Battiscombe joined the Battn.
2nd Battalion – Officers 32.    Other Ranks 959.
From Hospital 2.
A digging party consisting of 7 Officers & 385 N.C.O’s & men constructing fire positions in the CADBURY & FUNNEL communication trenches during the night.
1/6th Battalion – The enemy fired 15 H.E. 15 pr Shells in the vicinity of LUKERS HOUSES at 11.15am doing no damage. The Bn was relieved in the trenches by the 7th East Surrey Regt. Relief commenced at 8pm and was completed at 10.30pm. The Battn on being relieved returned to billets at LE BIZET.
2/4th Battalion ALEXANDRIA.
Called at Alexandria, route march daily. Disembarked 1st line transport.

7th Battalion BOULOGNE.
Battalion spent night of 27-28 in rest camp at BOULOGNE & entrained at GARE CENTRALE at 9pm for BERTANGLES, near AMIENS. Emergency rations & some stores were drawn at BOULOGNE.

Transport etc spent night 27-28 at HARVE & entrained on morning of 28th for AMIENS, marching from there to BERTANGLES where billets were taken over for the Battalion.
