The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 29th April 1916

29th April 1916–

1st Battalion – Heavy bombardment of Hohenzollern in early morning – Some 5.9”, L.H.V & T.M activity during day – German Fokker brought down on our right.
2nd Battalion – Company Parades. Platoon & extended order drill. Musketry.
Battalion on fatigue.
Officers 35.    Other Ranks 904.
2/4th Battalion
1/5th Battalion – Work continued steadily every day in Bund & huts & in addition the Battn & the 90th Punjabis dug a large drain out of the N.W. corner of the camp into a nullah in the desert which effectually ran off practically all water which had percolated through the Bund.
1/6th Battalion – The Battalion carried out Physical Training, Close order Drill, Musketry parades during the morning. 2nd Lt F.W. Elliott reported for duty.
At 8.20pm orders received to be ready to move at 3 hrs notice.
