The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 13th April 1916

13th April 1916 –

1st Battalion – Working parties morning & night, total 150 men. Company commanders conference to settle programme of work for Brigade rest.
2nd Battalion – At 2.30am heavy hostile artillery bombardment commenced on sector on our right. For nearly 2 hours the enemy’s & our bombardment lasted. The enemy raided the trenches & secured a few prisoners. During this period our men “stood to” but nothing happened on our front.

2/4th Battalion
1/5th Battalion – 13th - 15th April
Hut building continued hard. Owing to the rise of the river, on the 15th we were ordered to find strong as possible fatigue parties to strengthen the Bunds every second day.
1/6th Battalion – Battalion remained in billets & continued training.
