The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 20th February1916

20^th February 1916 –

1st Battalion – Mine exploded on left opposite 34 in A, by brickstacks.

Worcesters occupy crater – 1 wounded in action. Activity N & South -

2nd Battalion – BRAY TO TRENCHES.

The Battalion relieved the 1^st South Staff, Regt, in the trenches in C2 Sub-Sector. Relief commenced at 6.30pm & was completed by 10.15pm. Quiet night.

Officers 33.    Other Ranks 836.

6 to Hospital.

1/5^th Battalion – Battn, attended Church Parade.

1/6^th Battalion – Battalion remained in billets & continued training.

7^th Battalion – In Billets nothing to record.

8^th Battalion – 20^th, 21^st, 22^nd, 23^rd March 

The Bn, remained at the BELGIUM CHATEAU. Large working parties were supplied for the 129^th Field Coy R.E. and 104^th field Coy R.E. each night. The CHATEAU dug-outs have been frequently shelled during the tour and A Coy of the 1^st N. Staffs billeted with us have lost 16 casualties, but the 8^th Queen’s suffered no casualties. “GAS ALERT” was adhered to the whole time.
