The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 8th January1916

8th January 1916 – 

1st Battalion – Bathing and ordinary routine with 420 men on fatigue.
Casualty 1 Other R. Wounded.
2nd Battalion – Field Firing Practices by Coys.
Officers 32.    Other Ranks 825.
2/4th Battalion
1/5th Battalion - NASARIYEH LEFT BANK.
The Battn, was ordered out to make the first 4 miles of the road from NASARIYEH to BUTANIYEH fit for wheeled transport under the direction of Lt Col Ogilvy D.E.C. 12th Division the Battn, started at 7am & returned to camp at 4pm.
1/6th Battalion – Very Quiet day “D” Coy relieved “B” Coy in the DUCKS BILL & “B” went into support very few rifle grenades over, evidently enemy relieved. Enemy again shelled WINDY CORNER during the afternoon.
Casualties 3 wounded.
7th Battalion VILLE-SUR-ANCRE.
In billets nothing to record.
8th Battalion – The Bn, remained in Camps & Dugouts as stated above.
