The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 7th January1916

7th January 1916 – 

1st Battalion – Relief by 2nd Worcesters commenced at 3pm and completed at 5pm. Bat went into billets at ANNEKIN (N).
2nd Battalion –Battalion attack through RIENCOURT WOOD.
Officers 32.    Other Ranks 825.
1/6th Battalion – Very quiet day, enemy sent a few stray shells over by LONE FARM, our snipers claim 3 hits, during the night 6/7 sent out officers patrols to reconnoitre our wire, Coys busy draining & improving Saps & trenches.
Casualties 2 wounded.
7th Battalion – The Battalion was relieved by 8th East Surrey Regiment by day & returned to billets at VILLE-SUR-ANCRE. Casualties during period of occupation of trenches, Other Ranks, Killed 3 Wounded 4.
8th Battalion BELGIAN CHATEAU.
The M.G. Section took over 4 guns of 50th Bde, in Reserve line.
