The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 5th January1916

5th January 1916 – 

1st Battalion – Quiet day.
Casualties 1 Other rank Killed.
2nd Battalion – Brigade Field day. Attack.
Officers 32.    Other Ranks 824.
1/5th Battalion - G.H.Q. 12th Division arrived at NASARIYEH.
1/6th BattalionLE QUESNOY.
Battalion bathed all except 1 Coy. Officers & bombers practised firing rifle grenades.
7th Battalion – Quiet day nothing to record.
8th Battalion – the Bn, paraded at 4.30am and marched to AUDRIUCQ Station for entrainment by 7.39am. The Bn, detrained at QUENTIN near POPERINGE and marched to Divi Camp D, G 24 d 2 4, arriving 12.30pm. The transport detrained at GODEWAERSVELDE, and proceeded to camp T 8 at H 19 b.2.4.
Camp D was vacated by the 7th E. Yorks Regt - 50th Bde.
Camp T 8 was vacated by transport of 9th Border Regt, - 51st Bde.
At 10pm when rations etc had been issued, one Company proceeded to BELGIUM CHATEAU Dugouts, H 23 b, as an advance party.
