The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 19th January1916


19th January 1916 –

1st Battalion – Ordinary Routine.
2nd Battalion – Battalion scheme – advanced & rear guards.
Officers 32.    Other Ranks 869.
To Hospital in England 1.
1/5th Battalion - The weather continued very wet & cold.
1/6th BattalionLE TOURET.
The Battalion marched from LE TOURET to BUSNETTES where it went into rest billets only 4 men fell out during the march.
7th Battalion – 9pm Our miners fired mine at F 3 a 50. Enemy were working close by shortly before explosion. Our field artillery co-operated. No retaliation by enemy.
7th R.W. Kent Regt relieved 7th Buffs in sub-sector E1
8th Battalion – The battalion continued the work on the defence point and one Company was kept in camp for training purposes. Company grenadiers trained in throwing live bombs.
