Battalion – GALLIPPOLI.
1/5th
Battalion - Division asked if mobilisation complete, Reply to effect
that practically complete except for Medical establishment, officers chargers,
6 pairs binoculars 6 Sets of telephone, officers tents, necessaries Indented
for on payment, field service clothing collected, kits not packed.
1/6th Battalion
– Remained in billets – Bombing classes commenced & Companies carried out 2
hours parade.
7th
Battalion – Enemy fired 3 trench mortar bombs, heavy into our wire, at F 3
a 62. A patrol under 2/Lt H. Cloudesley examined craters & ground to E of
them at F 3 c 49. A German working party was met & successfully bombed. A
German wiring party was caught by one of our machine guns & some losses are
thought to have been inflicted. Our miners fired camouflet at F 3 a 40
successfully.
8th
Battalion – Morning quiet. After Artillery duel – no
damage to trenches. At 10.30pm enemy used trench mortars against U29.
