The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 7th October 1915

7th October 1915 –
 
1st Battalion – Ordinary Routine including practice throwing live hand grenades.
2nd Battalion – Battn, relieved 6th Wilts in A.2 Section at CUINCHY. Opposing trenches in many places not more than 40 yds apart. Ground full of craters.
Officers 23.    Other Ranks 738.
To Hospital 2.
From Hospital 2.
1/6th Battalion – Remained in same trenches & found working parties as on previous day – A draft of 55 other ranks was received. These however did not come up to the trenches till morning of 8th having stopped the night in the Transport Lines at VERMELLES.
Casualties Killed O.R one Wounded 4.
2/4th Battalion – During this period the Battalion was employed digging trenches on and around LALA BABA and garrisoning the trenches by night.
7th Battalion SUB-SECTOR D3 BECOURT.
The Battalion relieved 8th East Surrey in sub-sector D3. A B & C Companies being in front line & D Company in reserve.
8th Battalion RENINGHELST.

2nd half Battalion relieved first half Battalion who returned from trenches to  RENINGHELST.
