The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 2nd October 1915

2nd October 1915 –
1st Battalion – Remained in reserve all day.
Casualties 4 Wounded.
2nd Battalion – Officers 19.    Other Ranks 744.
Killed 1.
Trenches. Severe fighting throughout afternoon & evening near HOMENZOLLERN REDOUBT.
1/6th Battalion – Remained in billets. 225 men went out in two reliefs by night to dig trenches in front of our first line just west of LENS – LABASSEE road in square G.25.a (sheet 36.c.) Officers from each Company were sent to reconnoitre ground in front of first line about G.12.b.
2/4th Battalion GALLIPOLI
The Battalion moved from "A" Beach to SALT LAKE trenches where it remained until the evening of October 4th in general reserve to the "MOUNTED" Division.
7th Battalion – Copy of strength return as submitted on this date are attached. Capt Scott took over command of C Company.




8th Battalion – Left BERGUETTE at 6am detained at GOTWAERSWELDE. Marched to HOUTKERCQUE (about 12 miles). Men billeted in barns, great difficulty in finding billets as people not very friendly.
