The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 3rd February1916

3rd February 1916 –

1st Battalion – Nothing to report.
2nd Battalion – Artillery bombardment at FRISE very intense. One of our mines was exploded in the section on our immediate left at 5pm. Enemy retaliated with wiz-bangs.
Officers 30.    Other Ranks 864.
To Hospital 1.
Capt Cooke to England.
1/5th Battalion – Signs of lice were found in all companies, attributed in part at least to having to occupy ground previously site of Indian Regiments camp. A general washing parade was ordered.
1/6th Battalion – Battalion remained in billets & continued training.
7th Battalion – Our miners fired a large mine in front of TAMBOUR F 3 a 50. Our field artillery & trench mortar batteries cooperated. An existing crater was slightly enlarged towards the enemy.
