The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 26th January1916

26^th January 1916 – 

1st Battalion – Relief cancelled, attack feared. Shelling all day & night by our guns. Enemy feeble retaliation.

2nd Battalion – Lecture on Tactical value & use of Machine Guns by the M.G.O.

Officers 32.    Other Ranks 868.

1/5^th Battalion - Another wet day clearing up towards evening. A Coy on night outposts 26/27 A Battn, parade was ordered but put off on account of rain.

1/6^th Battalion – Battalion remained in billets, Coys did 5 hours training Physical Drill, Close Order Drill etc & Outpost in the afternoon.

7^th Battalion – In billets nothing to record.

8^th Battalion – Quiet day – nothing of importance has happened.
