The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 13th January1916

13th January 1916 – 

1st Battalion – C.S.M. Larkin Killed and 2 Other Ranks Wounded.
2nd Battalion – Officers 32.    Other Ranks 867.
2/4th Battalion
1/5th Battalion BUTANIYEH.
The camp was on a good dry sandy spot with a lake on the S & W front. During the night of the 12/13th the horses of the 12th Cavalry stampeded through the lines & took 10 out of the 12 M.G. mules with them. The missing; stores were found to have been deposited by the hired camels in the lines of the 12th Cavalry.


1/6th BattalionLE TOURET.
The Battalion relieved the 11th Bn, The Middlesex regt, in the reserve billets at LE TOURET Companies taking over corresponding Company’s billets “A” Coy found a garrison of 1 N.C.O. & 3 men for TUNING FORK EAST KEEP & ROUTE “A” KEEP the relief was complete by 3pm.
7th Battalion – In billets nothing to record.
8th Battalion – The 9th E.Surrey Regt on our left was relieved by the 1 N.Staffs. The Bombing posts
in our trenches and our Signallers were relieved by the 13th Middlesex Regt Grenadiers and Signallers in the evening. Guides were provided for them from the MENIN GATE.
Quiet day.
