The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 25th December 1915


25th December 1915 – 

1st Battalion – Draft of 1 Sergt and 45 other ranks joined the Battn, at 2pm
2nd Battalion – (Christmas Day) At mid-day the N.C.O’s & men of the battalion had a Christmas dinner. All Officers (26) dined at Hd Qrs in the evening.

1/5th Battalion - Parade Service & Holy Communions at 10.15am. Dinners at 1pm. The best dinner that could be arranged was cold beef, hot chicken & plum duff. A rum issue was sanctioned also. A poor Christmas was improved by the arrival of the mail late at night. This was the first mall since leaving LUCKNOW.
1/6th Battalion – Christmas day. Our artillery bombarded the enemy 4am and kept it up most of the day. Not much retaliation from the enemy. Gradually getting the water pumped out. Received a draft of 70 men on the 24th, these remained at LE TOURET until Battn was relieved.
7th Battalion – Some artillery activity on both sides.
