The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 14th December 1915

14th December 1915 – 

1st Battalion – The Battn, paraded at 10am on the square outside the SOUS PREFECTURE in BETHUNE. Major General WALKER addressed the Battn, and said goodbye on the occasion of their transfer to 33rd Divn, The Battn, afterwards marched past.
2nd Battalion – Officers 32.    Other Ranks 800.
To Hospital 6, From Hospital 2.
2/4th Battalion – Sailed for MUDROS
1/5th Battalion - CHUBAISH.
6.45am arrived EL ASMAIN, island in HAMMAR LAKE at 6.0pm. Wind adverse all the way.
1/6th Battalion – Two Coys returned to B Coy LE PLANTIN A Coy WINDY CORNER. During the afternoon the enemy bombarded the DUCKS BILL rather heavily with rifle grenades to which we replied with the same – our artillery carried out a bombardment of the enemy’s trenches with a view to making a small breach in them. To this the Germans replied very feebly on GIVENCHY.
Casualties wounded other ranks one.
7th Battalion – In billets nothing to record.
