The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 9th October 1915

9th October 1915 – 

1st Battalion – Usual work. Received orders that the Battn, would take over trenches on the 11th from Guards Bde.
2nd Battalion – Officers 25.    Other Ranks 731.
Wounded 1.
Major H.W. Smith joined & takes over command.
Exceptionally quiet day.
1/6th Battalion – remained in same trench & found working parties. Orders were received to relieve 6th Buffs, in front trenches on the 10th.
Casualties wounded other ranks 2.
2/4th Battalion – During this period the Battalion was employed digging trenches on and around LALA BABA and garrisoning the trenches by night.
7th Battalion – Enemy working parties reported active, more of them were seen looking over parapet than previously.

8th Battalion – 2nd half Battalion returned at midnight from the trenches.
