The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 4th October 1915

4th October 1915 – 

1st Battalion – Ordinary Routine.
2nd Battalion – Officers 19.    Other Ranks 739.
Wounded 1.
Relieved during afternoon by 2nd Bedfords. Billets in LE QUESNOY.
1/6th BattalionTRENCHES.
Remained in trenches. The trenches were shelled intermittently all day, but most of the fire was directed against ours & French guns of which there was a considerable number about this point. – Found working parties as on 3rd at 8pm orders were received that the Battn, would move on the following day – Casualties – Wounded other ranks 9 Killed one.
2/4th Battalion – Capt. Hull having been admitted to hospital, Capt. McNaught assumed command of the Battalion. The Battalion moved into dug outs on the eastern slopes of LALA BABA.

7th Battalion – Orders received that Battalion would relieve 8th East Surrey in D3 on night 7-8th.

8th Battalion – Reorganisation Battalion bombers & other specialists.
