The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 16th July 1915


16th July 1915 – 

1st Battalion – Usual work.
2nd Battalion – Officers 34.    Other Ranks 970.
To Hospital 1.
“D” Coy sent to CROIX BARREE works.
1/6th Battalion –Enemy fired trench mortars in to 94 (D Coys) trench – wounding 3 men. Battalion was relieved by 7th East Surrey Regt – the relief commenced from MOTOR CAR CORNER at 9. pm (except two platoons of A Coy which came in earlier) The relief was completed at 12.30 am. It rained hard during the relief which made the trenches very muddy & slippery and somewhat delayed the relief. The Battn, on being relieved proceeded to billets at LE BIZET. The last platoon to be relieved arrived in billets at 3.30 am.

Casualties – Wounded 0.Ranks 8 (one slight).
