The Queen's (Royal West Surrey) Regiment 14th July 1915


14th July 1915 – 

1st Battalion – Usual work.
2nd Battalion – Officers 34.    Other Ranks 972.
To Hospital 2.
“A” Coy went to CROIX BARREE works.
1/6th Battalion – At 3.45 am our trench opened fire on the German barricade on the LE TOUQUET RD from 92 (A Coy) Trench – doing some damage – About 5 am the Germans replied with Hand Grenades, Mortars & Trench Howitzers. Wounding Capt G.H. Higgings, Capt Rolls (slightly) & 7 men (2 slightly). It was reported that one of the hostile grenades fell in our bomb store in 92 trench which caused an explosion, & probably this caused our casualties. The remainder of the day was quiet.
